LCSD, SCHP Announce Latest Traffic Operation

Ten Roads in Lexington Will Receive Special Attention Beginning Aug. 11

We told you earlier this week that Lexington County Sheriff's deputies and S.C. highway troopers were targeting certain roads this week. But authorities apparently aren't done.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 11, both LCSD deputies and state troopers will be targeting 10 new roads, looking for speeders, as well as reckless and drunken drivers, through Aug. 17.

Here are the targeted roadways: Berkeley Road, Drawdebil Road, Fairview Road, U.S. Highway 378 West, YMCA Road, Platt Springs Road, Woodlands Hill Road West, Augusta Road, Laurel Road, and Boston Avenue.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said deputies and state troopers will concentrate on specific offenses or on problem areas identified by patrol observations, complaints from citizens, and statistics concerning traffic collisions. Motorists should be aware of this increased activity and should exercise caution when traveling in these areas.

The roads targeted are subject to change without notice, Metts said.
