Lexington County Council Candidate Charged with Theft
Wes Howard, a Republican candidate in District 3, faces larceny charge in Greenville County.

Wes Howard, a Republican candidate for Lexington County Council, faces a misdemeanor theft charge stemming from an incident late last year at his estranged father's house in Simpsonville.
According to a report in The State, Howard is accused of taking $1,261 in unspecified items from his father's house, stemming from an unspecified dispute in the divorce of his father and stepmother.
The alleged incident happened last October, and Howard's father filed the complaint this past March; Howard turned himself in to the Greenville County Sheriff's Department on May 4.
If convicted on the charge, Howard would still be able to hold office if elected. Howard is running for the District 3 council seat in the June 12 primary against fellow Republican Kent Collins. The district covers most of the town of Lexington and the surrounding area.
