Lexington County Sees Improvement In Crime Stats
FBI stats show county decreases in virtually all key crime markers in 2010

Crime in Lexington County decreased in 2010 from the previous year, with improvements in virtually every major crime category, according to FBI statistics released Monday.
Only in the category of forcible rate was there no improvement. The county recorded 52 such crimes in 2010 and in 2009 -- however, that number remains much higher than the 39 rapes reported in 2008.
Otherwise, every other category show at least some improvement in 2010 from the previous year.

In the violent crime category, the county saw 505 such crimes in 2010 versus 528 in 2009. Murders dropped as well from 10 to six in 2010.
Robberies dropped only slightly from 97 to 96 in 2010. Same with aggravated assaults, with 351 reports compared to 369 in 2009, and burglaries with 981 versus 982 in 2009.
The biggest reductions came in the categories of property crimes and theft. Property crimes dropped to 3,902 from 4,244, while thefts decreased to 2,574 compared to 2.898 in 2009.

Motor vehicle theft dropped, too. From 364 in 2009 to 347 in 2010.
