Lexington One Announces Promotion and Transfer
LMS gets new assistant administrator, while Forts Pond Elementary gets new assistant principal.

Gloria Nester has been promoted to assistant administrator at Lexington Middle School and Red Bank Elementary assistant principal Mark McDermet has been transferred to the position of assistant principal at Forts Pond Elementary School in Pelion effective July 1, according to a release from the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees.
Nester currently serves as technology integration specialist at Lexington Middle School. She began her teaching career as a middle school Spanish and English teacher in Ashland City Schools in Ashland, Ohio, in 1990. Nester became a staff development coordinator in 1992, an adult education adjunct professor at Ashland University in 1993, and a high school Spanish teacher in Ashland City Schools in 1993.
In 1998, she moved to South Carolina and began teaching Spanish at Hammond School. Nester moved to Richland County School District Two in 1999 as a high school Spanish teacher and joined Lexington One as a Spanish teacher at White Knoll Middle School in 2000. She became a technology integration specialist in 2004.

Nester is also a graduate adjunct professor at the College of Charleston.
McDermet, the new assistant principal at Forts Pond, has 19 years of education experience. He began his career as a teacher at Linkhorn Park Elementary School in Virginia Beach, Va., in 1991. He moved to Conder Elementary School in Columbia in 1993 and to Harbison West Elementary School in 1995.
He was promoted to assistant principal in 1997 at H.E. Corley Elementary School in Irmo. In 2000, he became Director of Family Ministries at Cornerstone Church in Columbia. He joined North Springs Elementary School as assistant principal in 2002.
