Lexington Rolls Past White Knoll

On a nippy and breezy Friday night, the Lexington High Wildcats cruised past cross-town arch rival White Knoll High School 42-12 to finish a perfect 11-0 regular season.

Minus their star running back, Kevin Miller, who is nursing an injury in advance of next week's state playoffs, the Wildcats struggled with the Timberwolves' archaic yet tricky Wing-T offense in the first half -- going into halftime up only 22-12.

But the Wildcats offense came to life in the second half behind sophomore standout QB Will Hunter, and wide receiver Shaq Roland, and the defense shut down the Timber Wolves the rest of the way for the easy win.

According to the unofficial stats, Hunter passed for 355 yards, and Roland -- a potential S.C. Mr. Football and a four-star recruit commitment for the  USC Gamecocks -- caught 22 passes for more than 250 yards and two receiving touchdowns, and another score rushing.

The undefeated, and second-ranked, Wildcats will begin their campaign for a Class-AAAA state championship when the AAAA playoffs start next Friday.
