Man Arrested In Convenience Store Burglary
Suspect charged with stealing $1,400 in cash from Lexington store

A Columbia man faces second-degree burglary charges after Lexington County Sheriff's deputies alleged on Wednesday he broke into a convenience store on Two Notch Road near Lexington and stole $1,400 in cash.
Staffon Ray, 29, of 2226 Rolling Hills Road, Columbia, was being held Wednesday at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
According to Sheriff James Metts, the burglary happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Glalah Market, located at 1302 Two Notch Road, Lexington.

After responding to a burglar alarm, deputies allegedly found Ray's 1999 Mitsubishi Montero sport-utility vehicle, which was registered to Ray's mother, parked at the rear of the store, according to Metts.
"Deputies encountered Ray as Ray stood behind a fence near the convenience store," Metts said.

"Ray told deputies that he wanted to surrender in connection with the convenience store burglary. Deputies took Ray into custody without incident."
