A passel of Lexington County Sheriff's deputies will be adding some stripes to their uniforms.
Lexington Sheriff James Metts announced he has promoted Billy Laney, 41, of Columbia, Marty Longshore, 35, of Gilbert, and William Bradley White, Jr., 34, of West Columbia, to the rank of sergeant. The three men have been assigned to work as road patrol supervisors.
Laney previously worked as an investigator on the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team. Longshore previously worked as a detective in the Major Crimes Unit, while White worked as a master deputy assigned to road patrol duty in the North Region Patrol District based near Irmo.
In addition, Metts has promoted Ed Prestigiacomo, 45, of West Columbia, to the rank of sergeant and assigned Prestigiacomo to work as a supervisor for detectives who investigate property crimes in the South Region Patrol District, based in Pelion. Prestigiacomo previously worked as a detective in the Major Crimes Unit.
Metts also promoted Christopher Lee, 41, of Chapin, to the rank of master deputy and assigned Lee to work as a shift supervisor in the Warrant Division. Lee previously worked as a field training officer in that division.
Two other deputies will advance as well, according to Metts: Deputy Byron Snellgrove, 46, of Cayce, has been promoted to the rank of master deputy and shift supervisor of the department's Warrant Division, while deputy Randall Marvin Pfannenstiel, 52, of Chapin, has been promoted to serve as a victim-assistance officer in the sheriff's Major Crimes Unit.
