Unclaimed, Winning $1 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Chapin

Someone in Lexington County may be a new millionaire and not realize it yet.

The S.C. Education Lottery says an unclaimed winning ticket was purchased from Kangaroo Express #476 at 1259 Chapin Road in Chapin. 

The ticket for the Wednesday, July 27 drawing matched all five white ball numbers drawn. The winning numbers were 38, 40, 41, 51, and 59. The ticket holder purchased PowerPlay for an extra $1, which multiplied the $200,000 winnings to $1 million. The PowerPlay number drawn was 2, according to the lottery.

"Check your tickets," lottery officials said in a statement on the lottery's website. "In Wednesday night’s drawing, more than 17,400 of the South Carolina Education Lottery’s players won prizes from $3 up to $1 million. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize."

Lottery officials added that the estimated Powerball jackpot for Saturday, July 30, is $133 million, while the estimated Mega Millions jackpot for tomorrow, Friday, July 29, 2011, is $74 million.
