New LMS Principal Named

Ryan T. Pool will take charge of Lexington Middle School next school year

The Lexington One Board of Trustees has hired Ryan T. Pool as principal for Lexington Middle School effective July 1, 2012. Pool will replace .

Superintendent Karen Woodward said, “We’re pleased to welcome Ryan Pool to our district. He is a seasoned teacher and a well-respected middle school administrator. He will be a great asset to our district.”

Pool has a variety of educational experiences. He currently serves as assistant principal for instruction at CrossRoads Middle School and is a certified instructor for the Douglas Reeves Leadership and Learning Center in District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties.

He began his education career as an instructor at the University of South Carolina, moved to R.B. Stall High School in Charleston County School District as a social studies teacher, and joined White Knoll High School, when it opened, as a social studies teacher.

A fluent Spanish speaker, Pool then served with the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer. His assignments included extensive training in diplomacy at the U.S. Foreign Service Institute, followed by two years at the U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and an appointment to the Secretary of State’s Operations Center in Washington, D.C.

He returned to teaching in 2006 as a social studies teacher at Dutch Fork High School and was promoted to assistant principal at CrossRoads Middle a year later.

Pool has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Master in Arts in Teaching and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is certified in school administration at the elementary and secondary level.

He is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, South Carolina Middle School Association and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Pool and his family live in Lexington and attend Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.
