West Columbia Police Maj. Jackie Brothers said Barfield was struck by a hit-and-run driver between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday while walking on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of North 12th Street between Jarvis Klapman and Sunset boulevards.

Brothers told Patch that a police accident reconstruction team was at the site Saturday morning. In the meantime, police are looking for a late-model white Chevrolet Camaro SS, probably either a 2010 or 2011 model, she said.
