Lexington High girls roll in first round of state Class AAAA basketball playoffs.

LEXINGTON — The Lexington High School Lady Wildcats extended their season Tuesday night with a rout of Ashley Ridge in the opening round of the Lower State .

In a spirited battle before a sparse crowd, the Wildcats (15-10) topped the Swamp Foxes (6-13) of Summerville, 72-43.

The girls' playoffs resume Feb. 17. 

Meanwhile, Class AAAA boys' action begins Wednesday night, with sixth-ranked Lexington set to play Columbia's Ridge View High Blazers (15-9) on the Wildcat's home court. County rival White Knoll (11-13) will head to the Lowcountry on Wednesday to face the Green Wave (13-11).

Fort Dorchester Patriots (13-6) play Aiken at home.

Both boys' games tip-off at 7 p.m.
