Police Seek Help Identifying Robber

The West Columbia Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery see photos).

The robbery occurred at K&M Jewelry, located at 507 Meeting Street in West Columbia, on May 9. 

Police Chief Dennis Tyndall said a black male suspect entered the store, presented a black handgun and demanded jewelry. The suspect was wearing a dark suit, gray hat and large black sunglasses, he said. 

The suspect is believed to be in his late 40’s or early 50’s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds.  

During the robbery, the suspect vehicle’s rear window was shot out by the storeowner, Tyndall said. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a silver mini-van. The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of jewelry, Tyndall added.
