Poll: Perry Sinking, Romney on the Rise

Is it possible that Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who burst onto the GOP presidential scene with a major announcement in Charleston, has already peaked?

According to the most-recent HuffPo/Patch Power Outsiders Poll, it appears possible.

The poll of 160 influential conservative voters in South Carolina, New Hampshire and Iowa included a majority (57 percent) saying their impression of Perry has grown less favorable, with just 16 percent saying it has become more favorable.

Meanwhile, a majority (47 percent) say their impression of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has become more favorable, while only 13 percent say they think less of him.

This week's survey results match a that showed Perry's lead in South Carolina among primary voters falling from 11 percent to 3 percent in the past month.

The two are considered the top choices among the GOP candidates at this point, with Rep. Ron Paul, Rep. Michele Bachmann, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and businessman Herman Cain remaining behind the two in most polls.
