Prosperity Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash

A Prosperity man died late Monday when he crashed his pickup near Chapin, authorities said.

The one-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of Dreher Island Road.

According to Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman, Jerome A. Wozniak, 56, of Prosperity, was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup when he left the right side of the roadway, striking a telephone pole, a power pole, and a phone junction box, and coming to rest against a tree.  

Wozniak, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head trauma, Harman said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
