Red Bank, Rocky Creek Elementary Get New Administrators

Lexington School District One will have new administrators at two of its elementary schools.

James P. Kimpton and Dawn B. Harden will serve as assistant administrators at starting July 1, the district announced this week. Diane B. Thomas will serve as assistant principal at Rocky Creek Elementary.

Kimpton comes to Red Bank Elementary from Varennes Academy of Communications and Technology in Anderson School District Five. He currently serves as fifth-grade mathematics, science and social studies teacher at Varennes and head coach of the varsity girls and boys tennis teams at Westside High School.

In addition to 12 years of teaching experience, Kimpton has a Bachelor of Science from Clemson University, a Master of Elementary Education from Converse College and a Master of School Leadership from Furman University. 

Harden moves to Red Bank Elementary from Gilbert Elementary School where she served as fourth-grade teacher. She has 17 years of education experience and began her education career in 1990 working as a first-grade and Reading Recovery teacher in the Aiken County School District.

Harden joined Lexington One in 2002 as a first-grade teacher at Pelion Elementary School. She has a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies, a Master of Education in reading and a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. 

Thomas, who is currently assistant principal at Red Bank Elementary School, will serve as assistant principal at Rocky Creek Elementary.

She has 21 years of education experience and began her education career as a third-grade teacher at Gilbert Elementary School in 1991. She has a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Columbia College and a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina.
