Roland Paces Wildcat Win

Shaq Roland, the state's "Mr. Football," became Mr. Basketball on Wednesday night as Lexington High rolled over Ridge View in the opening round of the state 4A playoffs.

The Lexington High Wildcats won their tenth straight game Wednesday, rolling over Ridge View in the first-round of the Class 4A basketball playoffs, The State reports.

The 77-52 victory avenged last year's Wildcat loss to the Blazers in the Lower State finals.

Pacing the Wildcat's victory was Shaq Roland, the state's 2011 "Mr. Football." He was Mr. Basketball on Wednesday, leading all scorers with 26 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four blocks.

Lexington will host West Ashley -- whom it defeated with a dramatic one-point win in the third round last year -- in a second round matchup on Saturday night.
