Shepherd’s Center of Lexington Offers Spring Classes

The classes for older adults range from Spanish to quilting to technology.

The Shepherd’s Center of Lexington is offering its Spring “Adventures in Learning” series on Thursdays from April 25 to June 13 at Lexington United Methodist Church.  

Older adults who participate in the "Adventures in Learning" program seek knowledge, get together to share it, ask questions, and encounter new ideas and insights.

Featured session speakers include Dr. Victor Hirth, geriatric physician; Scott Adams, Prysmian; Dr. Daniela Friedman, USC School of Public Health; Randy Halfacre, mayor of Lexington; Scott Middleton, Agape Senior; Dr. David Stallard, physician; Dr. Deb Krotish, USC SeniorSmart, and Glenn McConnell, South Carolina Lt. Governor.

Sixteen classes will be offered on diverse topics such as Spanish, quilting, basic computer skills, gardening, technology trends, current events, tai chi, art, and others. Special offerings include courses taught by Jerry Bellune of the Lexington Chronicle and deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.  The new Telikin Computer Learning Lab will be the site for several courses on computers specially designed for older adults.
