Teens Arrested for School Break-In
Two youths charged with burglarizing portable classroom at Gilbert Primary School

A pair of 15-year-olds face charges after they were caught allegedly breaking into a portable classroom at Gilbert Primary School, Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said Thursday.
An off-duty Sheriff’s Department supervisor saw the two boys allegedly commit the burglary Wednesday night while the supervisor was walking near the school, Metts said.
The sheriff didn't say whether anything was taken, but said the two boys were found with screws allegedly used to break in to the classroom, as well as a small bag of marijuana and rolling papers in the area where the two were detained.
Metts said he couldn't release the boys names because of their age, but said one lives near Gilbert, while the other one is from Leesville. One of the youths was released to his mother, while a grandmother took custody of the second boy.
Metts said he will recommend the teens be prosecuted on second-degree burglary charges.
