Three teens face burglary charges after they allegedly broke into a home near Gaston and took a 19-inch TV, electronics, jewelry, and a male pit bull, according to a report from the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said deputies on Wednesday arrested Candy Nicole Garland, 19, of 1021 Bub Shumpert Road, Pelion, and Justin Eugene Jackson, 17, of 107 Cassidy Road, Gaston, on a charge of second-degree burglary. Garland and Jackson each were being held on Thursday, May 31 at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
Deputies took custody of a 16-year-old Gaston boy and transported the boy to a pre-trial detention facility in Columbia, Metts said. The boy will be held at the facility while awaiting a hearing in family court in Lexington.
Detectives recommended that the 11th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office prosecute the boy in family court on a charge of second-degree burglary, Metts said. Under South Carolina law, the sheriff cannot release the minor's name.
Deputies received information on Wednesday morning that Garland, Jackson and the 16-year-old boy possessed items that had been reported stolen from a home on Cassidy Road, Metts said. Deputies went to a home on Blackville Road near Gaston, where they found Garland, Jackson and the 16-year-old boy as well as items that were allegedly stolen from the Cassidy Road home.
Deputies recovered one speaker box, four subwoofer speakers, one dagger knife, one area rug, two bags of clothes, jewelry, make-up and the 19-inch television that had been reported stolen from the Cassidy Road home, Metts said. The male pit bull named Jake had been returned earlier to the homeowners.
