Two Die in Mobile Home Fire

Fire in Pine Ridge claims elderly woman and her son.

Two family members died early Tuesday in a mobile home fire in Pine Ridge, according to the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Fire Service.

The fire, which occurred at around 1:25 a.m. Tuesday at 2685 Fish Hatchery Road, claimed the lives of Dorothy Spires, 79, and her son Robert L. Lee, 57.

Authorities said both were inside the mobile home when it became engulfed in flames and burned to the ground. Autopsies indicated that both individuals died from thermal burns and smoke inhalation, the coroner's office said.

The cause of the fire was not given. The accident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the county fire service.
