Two Lexington Wildcats Selected to Shrine Bowl

LHS stars Shaq Roland and Kevin Miller among top senior players in the state

The second-ranked Lexington Wildcats will send two of its top seniors to this year's Shrine Bowl.

LHS offensive phenoms -- wide receiver Shaq Roland and running back Kevin Miller -- will join 42 other players from around the state in the annual showcase that pits the best senior high school players from the state against those from North Carolina.

In addition to Roland and Miller, LHS defensive coach David Bundrick has also been named to the S.C. coaching staff for the all-star game.

Roland, who is committed to the University of South Carolina next year, is a leading candidate for the honor of S.C. Mr. Football for this season. Meanwhile, Miller is having one of the best season's so far among the state's rushers. Miller, through the first seven games of the season, has 20 touchdowns and 1,325 yards on just 156 carries.

The undefeated Wildcats beat North Augusta last week in an offensive thriller, 59-56, on a last-minute field goal.

The 75th Annual Shrine Bowl will be held at Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg. The game begins at 1 p.m. Dec. 17.

Tickets for the game will be available at Bi-Lo stores in South Carolina. You can also buy tickets for $15 at the Shrine Bowl office located at 377 Rubin Center Dr., Fort Mill. Tickets will be $20 on game day if you purchase at the gate.
