Update: Couple Killed on Lake Murray Were Legally Drunk
Operator Was Driving Fast Enough to Cut Dock in Half, Authorities Say

The driver and passenger killed in a boat accident late Friday night on Lake Murray were both legally intoxicated, according to toxicology tests.
Chief Deputy Lexington County coroner Randy Martin said Monday that preliminary tests showed that driver Timothy C. Jones, 53, and passenger Kimberly S. Bailey, 45, both of Batesburg-Leesville, were both over the state's legal blood-alcohol limit of 0.08 percent for operating a boat, The State newspaper reported.
Jones reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of 0.357, while Bailey's blood-alcohol measured 0.187, Martin said.

Speed played a factor in the fatal accident, too, The State also reported.
The 17-foot Ranger bass boat, which collided with a dock southwest of the Dreher Island State Recreation Area, was traveling fast enough to cut the wooden dock in half, authorities said.
