Warning: LPD Plans Traffic Checkpoints Tonight
Officers will be stopping vehicles at points throughout the town

The Lexington Police Department, in conjunction with the S.C. Highway Patrol and law enforcement agencies in the 11th Circuit South Carolina Law Enforcement Network, will be conducting public safety checkpoints tonight within the Lexington town limits.
Officers will be conducting the checkpoints in an effort to help reduce the number of accidents and drunk drivers within the town limits. The checkpoints will commence at 7 p.m. and last at least until 2 a.m. To keep motorists on their toes, the checkpoints will move among various points throughout the night.
Already, two motorists have been killed this week on town roads, though these checkpoints have been in the works for awhile and are not a direct response to the deaths, said Lexington Police Department Maj. Jay Koon.
