Wreck Fatality Identified

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a one-vehicle accident which occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Thursday in the 500 block of Chris Drive, West Columbia.

According to Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman, Sheila H. Casserly, 40, of West Columbia was driving south on Chris Drive near Leaphart Road when she lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway, and struck a tree.  

Casserly, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries she received in the accident. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death, Harman said.  

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
