Wreck Kills Chapin Man

Single-vehicle accident took place on Amicks Ferry Road

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal one-vehicle accident which occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2011, according to a release.

According to Lexington Coroner Harry Harman, Justin A. Gorman, 21, of Chapin, was driving a 1999 Mazda MX-5 in the 700 block of Amicks Ferry Road in Chapin, when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the highway, and hit a tree.  

Gorman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he received, Harmon said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
