, claimed another life Wednesday evening after a West Columbia woman was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer in Cayce.
According to Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman, Melissa H. Patterson, 43, of West Columbia was driving a 2005 Ford Focus southbound in the 2800 block of Charleston Highway in Cayce when her vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer that was making a left hand turn onto Charleston Highway from the Interstate 26 exit ramp.
Patterson’s vehicle struck the rear tandems of the trailer. Harman said Patterson was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed today to determine the cause of death.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and Cayce Public Safety.
