Mount Pleasant expo brings businesses, resources directly to residents (counton2.com) — Mount Pleasant residents just wrapped up the Chamber of Commerce's 16th annual Business and Community Expo at the Omar Shrine Center, where local employers, health providers, and service organizations connected directly with attendees. If you missed it, the Chamber will host smaller networking events throughout the year to help you discover local services, job leads, and business connections close to home.
   

2. Mount Pleasant weighs options for Faison Road land (live5news.com) — Mount Pleasant officials are revisiting how to use the town-owned Faison Road property, with ideas ranging from nature trails and green space to a YMCA-style senior center and amphitheater. The Economic Development Committee meets again in October, and residents are encouraged to email council members and visit FriendsOfFaison.com to share what they want built there.
   

3. Mount Pleasant man sentenced in nationwide COVID relief fraud sweep (live5news.com) — A Mount Pleasant resident was sentenced to three years of probation, including a year of home detention, for diverting over $1.1 million in federal COVID relief funds toward building a South Carolina home and buying a luxury truck. His case is part of a nationwide Justice Department crackdown on pandemic relief fraud involving more than 160 defendants and roughly $245 million in alleged losses.
   

4. Park Circle Gallery to exhibit works by Jodi Charak and Abby Short (holycitysinner.com) — A Mount Pleasant mosaic artist, Jodi Charak, will showcase her intricate, reclaimed-material mosaics alongside Charleston painter Abby Short at Park Circle Gallery in North Charleston from September 30 to October 31. Local art fans can also meet both artists during a free reception on October 2, with easy access and free admission just across the river.
