Palmetto City Ballet announces new season of performances in Charleston (counton2.com) — Young dancers in Mount Pleasant can audition this Saturday, Sept. 12, for youth roles in Palmetto City Ballet's popular "Charleston's Nutcracker," with "Cinderella" auditions following in January at the Wando Park Boulevard studios. The new season features "Dracula," "Charleston's Nutcracker," and "Cinderella," giving local families multiple chances to see professional ballet and for Mount Pleasant students to perform onstage.

3. 9/11 events to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the attacks (reservenationalguard.com) — Mount Pleasant residents can observe the 25th anniversary of 9/11 at Patriots Point, where the USS Yorktown will sound its horn six times Friday to mark key moments of the attacks and first responders receive free admission. The guide also highlights additional memorial ceremonies, runs, museum exhibits, and virtual programs around the country for those who want to reflect or participate from afar.

4. Joseph Rice, Lowcountry Lawyer Who Took On Big Tobacco, Dies at 72 (gvwire.com) — A nationally influential lawyer, Joseph F. Rice, died Sept. 3 in Mount Pleasant at age 72 after a cardiac event at his office.
