O'Charley's Restaurant Chain Shuts Down All Locations Including South Carolina (news-usa.today) — Summerville has lost its O'Charley's on Azalea Square Boulevard, which was the final South Carolina location when the restaurant chain abruptly shut down all remaining stores. A related West Ashley spin-off, Underground Chuck's, also closed as the 55-year-old brand deactivated its website and social media, leaving local diners wondering what might replace the shuttered spaces.
   

2. Summerville alum Brody Hopkins called up to Tampa Bay Rays (live5news.com) — A former Summerville High School standout, pitcher Brody Hopkins, has been called up to the Tampa Bay Rays, giving local baseball fans someone to root for in the majors. After starring at Summerville and the College of Charleston, he's risen through the minors and recently thrived as a reliever, earning his shot at the big leagues.

Suspect allegedly grabbed at deputy's gun holster during arrest in Moncks Corner (live5news.com) — A theft suspect accused of stealing keys and a Ford Transit van from a Moncks Corner storage business was later spotted at Mr. Fuel on North Main Street in Summerville. Deputies say he ran across North Main, struggled during arrest, and allegedly grabbed at a deputy's gun holster before being subdued and the van recovered.
