Another Toddler Taken From Taylors Pool to Hospital
A 2-year-old taken from Otter Creek Water Park to the hospital today is the second in a month.

A 2-year-old girl was taken to the hospital from Otter Creek Water Park in Taylors this afternoon.
Deputies responded to the park, at 101 W. Darby Road, at 1:15 p.m. and found an unresponsive girl, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Department.
When deputies arrived, according to Lt. Michael Hildebrand, they found the child being attended to by park personnel.

EMS responded and transported the child to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where Hildebrand said she was alert and conscious.
Mike Teachey, director of community relations for the Greenville County Recreation District, said that lifeguards at Otter Creek saved the little girl's life.

Teachey said the child had run away from a nanny and found herself in the water between the shallow and deep end of the pool, which is about two-and-a-half feet deep.
Teachey said an 8- and 10-year-old were playing with the child, picking her up and dropping her in the water and, on the second time, they had noticed she was turning blue.
Teachey said the children along with her mother brought the child to the side of the pool.
"Lifeguards said that she had a pulse but was not breathing or responsive," Teachey said. "They were able to clear her airway and perform two rescue breaths and by the time EMS arrived, the child was responsive.
"We are very thankful our lifeguards were there and able to do their job and save this little girl."
Teachey said while it is easy to lose sight of a child for a few moments, this incident should serve as a reminder to parents how important it is to keep a close eye on their children.
"We can't stress enough parents, guardians and caretakers have to be mindful of their children when around water," Teachey said. "It is our understanding the nanny in this situation was attempting to put a life jacket onto the child, when the child ran away."
A 3-year-old was taken from the pool to the hospital in late July after nearly drowning. Naseir Ponders' parents and witnesses have said personnel at the park and YMCA group that the young boy was part of were not paying enough attention.
