I miss it already. The long days. The hot weather. The great fun we have had. Summer is almost over and I don't know how I feel about this.
I was at church the other week and one child turned to his mother and said, "Mom, can we just have another summer? I don't really like all the other weather." I would have to partly agree with him. I do like the change in weather, but I do agree we could go for another round of summer. Just something about it is so hard to wait for.
Unfortunately it has to come to an end and my did it fly by fast, especially since I have a full time job now and get to spend almost zero time doing fun stuff. For just about everyone I know the end of summer brings up these same feelings.

For those going back to school, whether it be elementary, middle, high or college (or even the teachers), it is the dread to get back to the grind and crack open new books. Man, I almost miss those days. I wish I had the entire summer off still.
For those who work but are going to miss the hot weather, it is the awful idea of less time off and the dwindle of lake and beach days.

For those who are sending their kids back to school, it is the sadness you get of less time together. (But really you get more time to yourself, so some feel less sorry for you.)
It is just the end-of-summer blues.
STOP! Don't cry! Don't waste the time that is left! Make sure you go get in your last rays, take advantage of the final dips in the neighborhood pool and cram everything you can in each chance you get.
Ride the Swamp Rabbit Trail, go listen to music downtown on a Friday night and plan a back-to-school pool party. Enjoy it! Because it is going to be a little while before summer comes back around.
As for you, Summer, until next year...
Adios
