After the Sandy Hook massacre, Pres. Obama vowed to put the full weight behind gun control legislation, and will support Sen. Dianne Feinstein who is leading the fight to pass a bill that will ban all semi automatic weapons, even handguns with detachable magazines.
Many Americans are outraged that Pres. Obama is trying to weaken second amendment rights by using executive orders. US Senator Rand Paul recently stated that Pres. Obama is acting like a “King” on gun control, and US Congressman Steve Stockman will file legal proceedings to impeach Pres. Obama if he implements the planned 23 executive orders to weaken the second amendment.

Many gun owners fear the passing of a federal law that will ban semi automatic weapons, and implement gun confiscation or forced buybacks. Because of this fear many in SC are buying as many guns and ammo as they can. Local gun stores in the upstate have sold out of most M4 AR-15 rifle variants and ammo.
Sen. Lee Bright introduced a bill, “South Carolina Firearms Freedom Act” that would nullify any federal ban on firearms made in SC. Many gun owners feel that it is imperative for SC legislators to pass this bill in order to protect their constitutional rights from an overreaching federal government.

During the 2008 presidential race, Senator Obama said that he supported the second amendment, and if elected he will not try to take guns way from Americans. Today, Pres. Obama has “evolved” on this issue, and has decided that Americans should not have the right to keep and bear arms as the founders intended.
Many in SC are fighting back by contacting their representatives to oppose any bill that will weaken the second amendment. The NRA and Gun Owners of America (GOA) are both seeing record membership enrollments because of the imminent threat on the second amendment. Many in SC are frustrated with Washington's disregard of the constitution, and will go to the state capitol this Saturday to send a strong message that Washington will not take away their Second Amendment right without a fight.
