Searching for a job today isn't the same as it was 10 years ago. It may not be the best economy in which to look for a job, but there are many avenues to go down to find the perfect career.
Turning to the newspaper is not the only way to find a job anymore. Being in the job hunt myself, I have found there are many ways to search for jobs, and even a couple of ways to find jobs specifically in the Upstate/Greenville Area. The newspaper can still be of some help with this area, but the other forms of media has opened up a group of new options.
If you are looking for a job in the Upstate/Greenville area there a couple of really great options I have personally been using in my hunt.

The South Carolina Information Highway is one of my best finds. It separates the open job information by type of job, company and by area. You can choose Greenville in the jobs section, and then choose "companies" to basically choose what company you want to work for. It is really convenient and useful. I can go right to the companies that I have wanted to work for and find out if they have any openings that I want.
The Greenville News has a great website for jobs as well. Yes, I know, it is the newspaper's website, but they have partnered with Career Builder to build on the amount of jobs to be found in the Upstate/Greenville Area. It breaks down the jobs in categories that are convenient and easy to use. After focusing on the area's jobs, it also gives you options outside of Greenville.

Godshall Staffing is another great Upstate/Greenville Area option. I know what you are thinking - staffing companies are just not for you. I want to change that impression, though. Godshall is a local company that works hard for their clients and their website is extremely helpful. The post all of their good job leads online. If you are wary of the company, go online, explore their job openings and decide for yourself. If you are not wary, set up an appointment and let them go to work for you. In the mean time they have temporary opportunities where you can pick up a few hours of work and put a little money in your pocket at the same time.
All three of these I have used in the past years to help me find jobs and interviews. Godshall Staffing even helped me find work when I was in high school. These different options give you a wide range and covers all the career paths. They have definitely helped me and I know they can help you.
These are not the only options. Here are a few others.
- Career Builders - Yeah they partner with Greenvilleonline.com but they are great on their on their own as well.
- Monster - a great website with lots of categories to choose from.
- Indeed.com - Another great website. Very similar to Monster.
- Craigslist - Yes, at times can be sketchy, but I have found several leads that turned out to be great opportunities to interview for great jobs.
All of these are great ways to get going on the hunt. Since I am back in the saddle trying to find a new job these have been my best resources. There are so many avenues to try out, that even though the economy is down, there is still a chance for employment. Ok - now, go!
