Sin City Without The Sin
It is possible to visit Las Vegas with family, without experiencing the sinful side. Read along to find out how.
Summer is drawing to a close, and with Fall fast approaching, a great deal of families are trying to squeeze in a quick, last-minute vacation. Some families spend their summer vacations on a beach, riding coasters at an amusement park or sailing away on a cruise to an exotic locale. But, while Las Vegas, Nevada may evoke images of female escorts, free-flowing alcohol and gambling, you may be surprised to know that it can also offer opportunities for memorable family vacations.
"Sin City" offers exactly what everyone imagines. Hustlers on sidewalks, patrons stumbling out of casinos at 5 a.m., litter cluttering the ground as far as the eye can see. I've been there - it is all true. But, when I visited Las Vegas in 2009 I saw plenty that I did not expect.
For as many taboo things that Vegas offers, there are just as many family-friendly activities as well. Circus Circus is a hotel that was meant for families to stay at. It offers rides, shows that are appropriate for children and best of all...the kids eat free! MGM Grand has "The Lion Habitat" which has a massive viewing area to watch lions interact with their handlers and eat.

Madame Tussauds showcases wax figurens from pop culture from Britney Spears to President Barack Obama. The Paris Hotel and Casino has a replica of the Eifel Tower my family enjoyed visiting. It provided a fantastic view of "The Strip" and really gave me an idea of how beautiful Vegas is, once you get away from the grim and grit of today's society.
Daytime is the best time for "family time" in Las Vegas. All the drunkards are passed out in their beds, casinos are quieter, the streets are clean, women are dressed more modestly. Try lunch at some of the buffets most casino and hotels offer. Usually, kids eat free at these and the food will most likely be some of the best you've ever eaten. Las Vegas is known for a lot of things, and having good restaurants is one of them. Take advantage of the buffets, as my dad often says, "It's a buffet, that means they can't tell you when to stop."

Lastly, deals can often be found to help going to Las Vegas cost less. Search for flights that are offered on what are typically light travel days, like midweek deals. Also, if you've been to Vegas one time, you will get offers for free hotel stays all the time in the mail.
Las Vegas can be a place for families to vacation. My family joined me on my first trip there, and the ages ranged from 6 to 60. We had a wonderful time, without the dirty side of Vegas ever getting in our way. It is possible to have an exciting time in "Sin City" without experiencing the sinful side.
