Six Wade Hampton Athletes Sign On National Signing Day

Football, softball, cross country stars sign to compete at the collegiate level.

Wade Hampton High School celebrated seven of its athletes signing to advance their athletic careers into the collegiate level on Wednesday, as stars from the school's football, cross country and softball programs all signed letters of intent to play for various schools. 

Maranda Bolt, who played varsity softball for the Generals for four years, signed to play with USC Sumter. Bolt plays pitcher and first base, and was named All-Region her junior year. 

Ned Kennedy, a four-year letterman at WHHS in cross country and track, signed with Anderson University for cross country, along with teammate Ben Boerma, a five-year letterman at WHHS in his own right. The two runners have accounted for numerous All-County, All-Region and All-State accolades while leading the Generals to three state runner-up finishes in cross country.

Amanda Ward, another cross country standout, signed with North Greenville University. Ward was an integral part of the school's state runner-up finish at the 4A level in 2012, and lettered three years at WHHS. 

The WHHS football program was represented Wednesday by Terrence Sudberry, a three-year letterman and starting quarterback for the Generals, and linebacker Jaleel Smith. Sudberry signed with Apprentice School, located in Virginia, and Smith, who garnered All-Region and All-County honored, will be attending Carson Newman College.
