• Empowering Families Retreat (sdpb.org) — A free two-day Empowering Families Retreat is coming to K Bar S Lodge in Keystone on Oct. 23–24, giving local parents a chance to recharge, learn, and connect. Adults raising children ages 0–18 can join workshops, Parent Cafés, self-care activities, and time in nature in the Black Hills, with all programming and meals included at no cost.
   

• From Hawaiʻi to New York: Ultra-marathoner launches 50-state world record attempt : Maui Now (mauinow.com) — An ultra-marathoner aiming for a 50-state world record will run his South Dakota marathon in Keystone on Oct. 13, bringing a high-profile endurance challenge right through town. The run is part of a rapid 24-day schedule to raise money for cancer research, with locals welcome to follow his progress and potentially cheer him on as he passes through.
