Enjoy your Hobbies and Try New Ones during National Hobby Month
Touchmark at All Saints Retirement Community to Host Series of Fun, Educational and Social Events in January
January is National Hobby Month, a time to celebrate your favorite hobbies and try new ones. Whether it’s taking an art class, joining a walking club, or volunteering in the community, hobbies are enjoyable, and play an important role in reducing stress, fostering connections, and giving us a sense of purpose.
For older adults, the benefits are particularly significant. Research shows that participating in hobbies and other social activities may lower the risk of developing certain health conditions, including dementia, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. Studies also suggest that older adults who take part in activities that they find meaningful report feeling happier and healthier.
