Sioux Falls man sentenced to over three years for firearm possession as felon and drug user (rushmorestatenews.com) — A Sioux Falls resident, Jackson Wayne Sully, has been sentenced to three years and eight months in federal prison for illegally possessing a handgun as a felon and drug user, after officers found a loaded 9mm during an eviction-related search. The case, investigated by Sioux Falls Police and Minnehaha County authorities, falls under a federal initiative targeting violent crime in local communities.
   

2. Gordon Eugene Beckstrom (heartlandfunerals.com) — Sioux Falls is mourning Gordon Eugene Beckstrom, a 99-year-old Navy veteran and lifelong resident who passed away Wednesday at the VA Hospice Cottage in the city. Remembered for his World War II service aboard the USS West Virginia, long career, nearly 73-year marriage to Delna, and devotion to family, he leaves children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren across the region.
   

3. Downtown Sioux Falls units featured in Lloyd Parade of Apartments (dakotanewsnow.com) — Downtown Sioux Falls residents can tour new and existing Lloyd apartment units as part of the Parade of Apartments, with a special emphasis on the Downtown Loft Tour. Organizers say growing parks, recreation, and entertainment options are drawing more people to live in the city center, and tours are available across all sides of Sioux Falls.
   

4. No. 3 Minnesota State edges USF, 28-14 (keloland.com) — University of Sioux Falls football fell 28-14 to No. 3 Minnesota State at Bob Young Field, despite a strong defensive showing and 317 yards of offense. Sioux Falls stayed within one score late, but turnovers proved costly. The Cougars now prepare for a crosstown matchup at Augustana next Saturday afternoon.
   

5. Paul Eric Krogstad (heartlandfunerals.com) — Family and friends with Sioux Falls ties are mourning Paul Eric Krogstad, 67, who was born in Sioux Falls and passed away at Dougherty Hospice House after battling pancreatic cancer. He later made his home in Chamberlain, working locally and guiding fishing and hunting trips. A celebration of life is planned for spring 2027, with memorial donations suggested to Fishing For A Cure.
