A district judge ruled that LPEAās decision to take a discounted lump-sum payment of patronage capital didnāt trigger a required member vote under the bylaws, after legal costs exceeded $100,000.

New Fort Lewis College training program aims to create pathways to water careers (durangoherald.com) ā A new Fort Lewis College training held Thursdays in May at the FLC Center for Innovation in downtown Durango aims to launch residents into wellāpaid water operator careers. Partnering with the city of Durango and regional utilities, the free, handsāon course includes site visits, mentoring, and clear pathways to local jobs and certifications.

3. Suspect apprehended after 2-year manhunt (westernslopenow.com) ā After a two-year search, law enforcement arrested a wanted fugitive on a rural La Plata County property, with key support from the Durango-based U.S. Marshals office, Durango Police Department and Durango Fire. The multi-agency operation followed several alleged violent incidents and repeated attempts to flee, and the suspect is now booked into the La Plata County Jail on multiple outstanding warrants.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Returns to Durango for 53rd Edition, Memorial Day Weekend Showdown with the Train (cyclingwest.com) ā Durangoās signature Iron Horse Bicycle Classic is back Memorial Day weekend, May 22ā24, with thousands of cyclists racing the Durango & Silverton train and filling local roads and venues. From Fridayās Buckley Park kickoff and parade to Saturdayās road races and Sundayās gravel, mountain bike, and kids events, the weekend offers multiple ways for residents to ride, spectate, and celebrate.

5. Effort to restrict license plate cameras fails amid pushback from law enforcement (durangoherald.com) ā Durango residents are pushing a proposed city ordinance to tightly limit how police can use automated license plate reader data, even as a statewide bill to add similar guardrails has been withdrawn at the Capitol. City officials and police, including Durangoās chief, are now working with community members to balance privacy concerns with investigative needs, which could shape how these cameras operate locally.
