Both owners face felony animal cruelty charges, while animal control has seized the dog and is asking a court for permission to keep her for ongoing care and safety.
   

• Banner plane pilot heard 'pop' before crash-landing off New Smyrna Beach (bradenton.com) — A banner plane headed for New Smyrna Beach crash-landed in the surf just south of 27th Avenue after the pilot heard a loud pop and lost engine power, according to federal investigators. No one was hurt, and the pilot chose the water over the crowded beach while the NTSB continues examining what caused the sudden engine failure.
   

• CASE UPDATE: Operation Offenders: Endgame Concludes as Last Wanted Sex Offender Arrested (flaglercountybuzz.com) — New Smyrna Beach police helped Flagler County deputies arrest a wanted sex offender who had absconded from his registered Palm Coast address, ending a months-long enforcement operation. The man was tracked to a New Smyrna Beach residence, arrested without incident, and booked into Volusia County Branch Jail on a substantial bond for failing to properly register.
