Arrest Made In Stabbing Death Of Nashville Nurse

A 24-year-old man is charged in the murder of Nashville nurse Tiffany Ferguson at her apartment last week.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of 23-year-old nurse Tiffany Ferguson, Metro Police announced late Wednesday.

Christopher McLawhorn is charged with criminal homicide and especially aggravated burglary connected to the stabbing death of Ferguson in her Wedgewood-Houston apartment February 28. McLawhorn had been identified as a person of interest in the case in part due to tips from the community, police said. He was arrested at 4:25 a.m. Sunday at the corner of Third Avenue and Broadway holding two bottles of liquor and a small amount of marijuana. He was initially charged with misdemeanor pot possession. During interrogation, McLawhorn denied his involvement in the murder, according to police. He remained jailed on the pot charge Wednesday ahead of his formal charging in the murder and burglary.

Surveillance footage from the night of Ferguson's murder showed a man apparently checking apartments for unlocked doors. Investigators believe McLawhorn stabbed Ferguson several times while robbing her apartment.
