Another Candidate Emerges for Vacant Williamson County Commission Seat

The battle for the vacant Brentwood-area county commission seat will be a familiar one.

BRENTWOOD, TN β€” The race, such as it is, for the vacant seat on the Williamson County Commission may stoke feelings of deja vu among Brentwood residents, as Jennifer Luteran announced she has submitted an application for the District 7 position left vacant by the resignation of Tom Bain.

Luteran joins Williamson County school board member Bobby Hullett in applying for the spot; Luteran ran against Hullett for the board in 2016. Hullet defeated Luteran by nearly 10 percentage points, or 185 votes.

β€œLike many District 7 residents, I was surprised and disappointed that Bobby Hullett decided to abandon his seat on the school board after being sworn in last Octoberβ€”serving less than four months of his four-year termβ€”and instead pursue appointment to the county commission,” Luteran said. "During last year’s campaign, I was privileged to meet personally with hundreds of my fellow residents and hear about their concerns and desires for the community. Many of those same residents encouraged me to apply for this seat on the commission because they are confident I will make positive contributions to the community and be respectful of all my constituents. They also know that I will keep my word and follow through on commitments."

Hullett announced his candidacy for the spot last week and said he would speak more about it later this week.

The campaign for the school board seat was contentious, with accusations ranging from the standard β€” influence from campaign donors β€” to the bizarre: a tale of nighttime mailbox flyers.
