The 18-year-old's Lexus SUV went airborne and crossed seven lanes and two medians in Tuesday's wreck.

FRANKLIN, TN — Franklin Police have identified the Brentwood woman involved in Tuesday's horrific crash on McEwen Drive at Interstate 65.

Meghan Pittenger, 18, was driving a 2009 Lexus RX350 on I-65 South and then exited at McEwen, but did not reduce speed on the ramp, crossing seven lanes of traffic and two medians without hitting any other cars. The SUV went airborne, rolled over and landed in a ditch, breaking into two.

The engine and two front seats of the SUV landed in the parking lot of the nearby Drury Inn.

Lt. Charles Warner with the Franklin Police Department said the FPD is investigating the on-board data recorder, witness accounts and toxicology reports.

While RX350s were one of the cars recalled by Toyota in the past decade for unintended acceleration caused by floor mats pinning the gas pedal to the floor, the 2009 model year was not part of any recalls.
