New Brentwood Elementary Funds Approved

The Williamson County Commissioned gave the OK to spending $15 million for the planned Brentwood elementary school Monday.

FRANKLIN, TN — The Williamson County Commission voted 20-1 Monday approving $15 million for a new elementary school on Split Log Road in Brentwood.

The vote allows the school system to solicit bids by April 27, which will provide time for construction to have the school opened by the fall of 2018.

Director of Schools Mike Looney had warned that any further delay in the intent-to-fund resolution would require the system to delay a needed rezoning.

The commission also approved requests for $1.5 million to renovate the former Columbia State Community College campus for additional classrooms for Franklin High School, plus other requests for special education assistants, additions to College Grove and Scales elementary schools, and for 17 school buses.
