Here are the top three stories in and around Chattanooga today:

  1. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office gave Chattanooga's Central High School the "all clear" after a report of a suspicious package on campus. The school was evacuated on Thursday, Mar. 24, out of an abundance of caution. The sheriff said no evidence of a suspicious package was found on school grounds. (MyFox Chattanooga)
  2. Jeremy Shane Uren, 23 of Hixson, is facing charges for possession of child sexual abuse material. According to an affidavit, a detective found 268 files containing sexually explicit images of minors. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office reportedly acted on a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a suspicious Google account that was eventually traced back to Uren.   3. McDonald Farm in Sale Creek, roughly 30 minutes north of Chattanooga, is hosting an Easter event for families on Apr. 16, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. The free event is being sponsored by the Hamilton Parks and Recreation Department and will include numerous family-friendly activities. (Chattanooga Pulse)

  • See animals from around the world when you spend the day at the Tennessee Aquarium. The aquarium has more than 12,000 animals from all seven continents. Purchase tickets online. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  • Ten more cases of COVID and one additional death have been reported in Hamilton County. According to the health department, there have been 1,114 COVID-related deaths in Hamilton County since the beginning of the pandemic. (The Chattanoogan)
  • Freeman Cooper, Jr., former Chattanooga Police Chief, has died at the age of 70. Chief Cooper appeared at a lung cancer awareness event last November as he battled Stage IV lung cancer. (The Chattanoogan)
