🌱 CFD Presents CPL With New History Book + New Goodwill Location
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Chattanooga.
Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Kayla Harrison, your temporary host of the Chattanooga Daily.
First, today's weather:
Cooler; an afternoon shower. High: 46 Low: 35.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Chattanooga:
- The Chattanooga Fire Department presented a new history book to the Chattanooga Public Library. This book documents 150 years of firefighters' service to the city and its citizens. On Friday, Fire Chief Phil Hyman and Battalion Chief David Thompson Jr., CFD Historian, provided Library Director Corinne Hill with their copy of the book. (The Chattanoogan)
- Chattanooga's Goodwill has begun working on its Opportunity Campus in Bonny Oaks Industrial Park. Goodwill is planning to have its own administrative, training, and warehouse operations in this new location. They also want to partner with other agencies to offer a more comprehensive workforce development program. (Free: Yahoo! News, Subscription: Chattanooga Times Free Press)
- A new treatment is now available in Chattanooga that can prevent the most vulnerable from catching COVID-19. Evusheld is designed to prevent COVID infection before someone ever tests positive. It's targeted to people who have significantly compromised immune systems and those who had a history of severe adverse reactions to a COVID-19 vaccine. (WTVC)
Today in Chattanooga:
- Family Day - Painting With A Twist (12:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- Outside Magazine named Chattanooga as one of the best Mountain Towns in the U.S. It's hard to beat all the climbing, hiking, paddling, and biking options in the Chattanooga area. And when you've had your fill of outdoor adventure, there's plenty of local food and craft drinks to end your day with. (Instagram)
- The question of whether in-person or remote work is better for businesses and employees may not have an easy, one-size-fits-all answer, but there's no question working from home (or wherever you happen to be) has moved from emergency measure to everyday occurrence. Chattanooga workers and CEOs shared about how they work - whether remotely, in the office, or a mixture of both. (Instagram)
- The Chattanooga Zoo explained that the dark patches below the eyes of the Meerkat help them to see in harsh sunlight. These desert animals have incredible eyesight to spot predators from long distances. (Instagram)
