The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Chattanooga.

Hello all. It's me, Danielle Fallon-O'Leary, your host of the Chattanooga Daily — here to tell you all the most important things happening in town these days.

But first, today's weather:

Decreasing clouds. High: 47 Low: 28.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Chattanooga who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:

  1. Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly issued a proclamation declaring this week 'Color Chattanooga Pink! Week' to honor beloved News Channel 9 anchor MaryEllen Locher. Locher passed away in 2005 at age 45 following a battle with breast cancer. This week, the Pink! Gala will be held around town to raise money for The MaryEllen Locher Breast Center. (MyFox Chattanooga)
  2. A retired Florida elementary school teacher uncovered a copy of a 1936 edition of the Chattanooga Free Press. The rare newspaper features a cartoon signed by Walt Disney, information about the construction of the Chickamauga Dam, and ads for furnace systems for $198. The 86-year-old newspaper will be preserved in the Chattanooga Times Free Press Archives. (Subscription: Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  3. One person is dead Saturday evening after a single-car crash and possible entrapment on Highway 58. Police arrived on the scene to find the driver of the vehicle unconscious and a child in the backseat. The driver was declared dead on the scene and the child was unharmed and taken to a local hospital. (WTVC)
