Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:
- United Way Of Greater Chattanooga will host the second annual Celebrate Awards to recognize local nonprofits and volunteers. On May 19, awards will be given to the groups who have helped causes important to the community and serve as an opportunity for many to learn about getting involved in community organizations. Categories include collaboration, innovation, volunteering, and nonprofits. (The Chattanoogan)
- The Duck Day Golf Tournament at Council Fire Golf Club was a huge success! With 148 golfers attending the 14th annual tournament, $47,000 was raised for the Duck Day Scholarship Fund, and $1,500 was raised for the Jim Mancke Fund. (The Chattanoogan)
- Yesterday, a man was injured after falling down an elevator shaft of a Chattanooga office building. Firefighters were dispatched at around 8:00 a.m. to find that the man fell 20 feet due to the elevator car not being in place. The man was transported to the hospital and is now recovering.
