Here are the top three stories today in Chattanooga:

  1. Chattanooga's gas prices fell for the third straight week after hitting record highs last month. Initial data provided by GasBuddy.com predicts that gas prices will continue to decline into this next week. The average gas price in Chattanooga was $3.89 per gallon on Monday, according to the gas survey site that looks at 170 gas stations in the surrounding area. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

  3. The start of the second phase of the 1-24/I-75 interchange reconstruction project has begun, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. The department is collecting technical information to provide to contractors for the upcoming bidding process. The important soil samples were collected by Chattanooga-based Tri-State Drilling.
