Here are the top stories today in Chattanooga:

  1. Ruth Jeno has entered the race for the transformed Hamilton County Commission District 6 seat. Jeno, 72, is a volunteerism-focused Red Bank Republican, who serves on the Red Bank Board of Commissioners. She will face off with Republican Justin Pinkerton in the May 3 primary election assuming he returns his qualifying petitions by the Feb. 17 deadline.   2. Janet Hinds has been sentenced to 11 Years for the vehicular homicide of Officer Nicholas Galinger. In Feb. 2019, Hinds struck Officer Galinger with her vehicle on Hamill Road after she had consumed multiple alcoholic drinks at a restaurant. Hinds fled the scene and it was days before she turned herself in. (WDEF)
  3. On Monday, the Hamilton County Health Department reported 383 new positive COVID-19 cases. This brings the number of new cases down from 975 on Friday. The total number of cases in the county has reached 95,145. There have been eight more deaths from the virus in Hamilton County as reported on Monday, bringing the total death count up to 1,015.
